Jan is a Rhodesian Ridgeback specialist. In 1983 Jan was introduced to the Rhodesian Ridgeback and since then many National/International, World Champions and Crufts winner Jockulars have been produced. He is active in educating dog lovers in cynological knowledge and has his Dog Show Handling Class. Jan has written articles for Dutch dog magazines and in 1991 he was the author of the first Dutch book about the breed: Rhodesian Ridgebacks in the Netherlands 1945-1991. In 2002, a second book (about animals) was

published in "About Animals", partly written by Jan.

Jan has been a member of the Dutch Rhodesian Ridgeback Club since 1984. Jan was secretary of the club for five years and chairman in the period 2000- 2003. He is also a member of Kennel Club "De Kempen", one of the oldest (since 1922) and most important
all-breed kennel clubs in the Netherlands. Jan was a board member for 17 years as secretary and chairman of this club. Jan has been invited as a member of the Royal Kennel Club Cynophilia and is a member of the expert pool.

Jan has been a member of the training committee of the Dutch Kennelclub for many years. Many publications feature drawings by his hand.
